Short Stories 7: To My One and Only Brother

When we first met,
I was convinced that Mommy and Daddy had brought you home for me,
 as a gift,
solely for my amusement.

"Ooh a baby brother!"

But I soon realized that it was my job to tell you about the world, to teach you right from wrong.

It's my job to steer you in the right direction,

and to make sure you don't turn into a peeping tom.

And just because we are 8,599.9 miles apart,
that doesn't mean I won't always have your back.

Because there is only one of you, and there is only one of me.
We're a team.
It's you and I against the world.

And frankly, I just don't know what I would do without you.

I love you.
And I am proud to call you my brother.
